The information age refers to the current expansion of collection and storage of actually and potentially health related data to the technologies that provide the means to collect, manipulate, aggregate, combine, and utilise this data. With this come possibilities for future action which are only now beginning to be explored.

This is an area with which bioethics and health law need to keep up and it impinges on widely debated issues throughout bioethics.

This conference aims to explore a number of ethical and legal issues which already require reflection, including the following subthemes:

Big data

Artificial intelligence, health care, and conceptions of humanness

Trust and privacy: Mobile devices, social media, and professional boundaries

Dual-use technologies

Other bioethics and health law topics will be considered
