The Institute of Medical Ethics (IME) is a charitable organisation dedicated to improving education and debate in medical ethics. It is founder and co-owner of the Journal of Medical Ethics (JME) a leading international journal reflecting the whole field of medical ethics. The IME is currently involved in organising conferences, providing grants to students interested in medical ethics and in a project to support and develop medical ethics and law teaching in UK medical schools.

Thanks to the generosity of bequests the Institute is able to hold the annual Lewis W. Headley Public Lecture and also provide the Robert Hillman Essay Prize.
